Evert Taube

Evert Axel Taube (1890–1976), born on the island of Vinga outside Gothenburg, is Sweden's most beloved troubadour. He wrote iconic songs like 'Calle Schewens vals', 'Så skimrande var aldrig havet' and 'Fritiof och Carmencita'. His bohemian life in Argentina and Bohuslän shaped his poetic world. He was elected to the Swedish Academy in 1960.
